eNautical Affiliate Program Frequently Asked Questions

Why become an eNautical Affiliate?

Perhaps you'd like to make money by recommending this website to others. It's free to become an eNautical Affiliate and commissions are paid monthly.  By signing up, you'll also be part of community dedicated to encouraging boating safety and teaching a boatie the electronic lifeline of marine radio.  An affiliate programme is simply a way of organising a freelance "sales" team - and paying commissions on every student registered.

How does it work?

It's very simple. You firstly register as an eNautical affiliate. This will give you an affiliate code, and provide you with a coded URL (website address) which you can then use to link to our site. Anyone who clicks on this coded URL then arrives at our site.  With the eNautical Affiliate programme, you will earn 30% commission for every new member that joins via your link.  Please note that commission is paid whether you actually examine the referred applicant or not... This is our way of thanking you for assisting in teaching a boatie the electronic lifeline of marine radio.

This service is available only if you are an examiner.

What happens when someone is referred but does not register for a course?

A student must register before any referral commission is paid to an eNautical Affiliate.  See below to find out what happens when your referral delays in registering for an eNautical course.

Related questions:

What happens when someone is referred but delays in registering for a course?

eNautical saves a visitor's referral ID in a cookie on their computer.  This cookie has an expiry of 365-days which means if the student returns to the eNautical website within a year you will still earn the referral commission should they register.

Related questions:

What happens when someone is referred and doesn't register immediately but later visits through someone else's eNautical Affiliate link or directly through www.enautical.co.nz?

eNautical saves a visitor's referral ID in a cookie on their computer.  This cookie has an expiry of 365-days which means if the student returns to the eNautical website within a year you will still earn the referral commission should they register.  It does not matter how the student is later referred to the eNautical site as it is the initial Affiliate that will earn the commission.  Even if the student later visits directly using www.enautical.co.nz, the initial Affiliate will earn the commission due to the visitor's referral ID being stored in a cookie on their computer.

Related questions:

What is a cookie?

Cookies are files that contain information about you and your computer. Cookies are used to maintain state information as you navigate different pages on the eNautical website or return to the website at a later time. eNautical uses a cookie to store a visitors referral ID. This is how we track referral commissions to pay you!

Related question:

Are there any known problems associated with using cookies?

For this sites affiliate program to operate correctly, the visitors browser security setting must "allow cookies".  If a visitor has been referred via an eNautical Affiliate link and cookies are disabled for the visitors browser, eNautical will be unable to track the sale and pay any commission.

Related question:

If I'm an examiner, will I be examining the students that I refer?

This will depend on how the referral was made.  If you are in communication with the applicant, you have the option of arranging the exam sitting at this time.  For example, you could firstly arrange the exam sitting and then advise the applicant to register online through your eNautical Affiliate link.

If you don't wish to examine the student, he or she will still able to enroll online through your referral URL and select an alternative examiner via our eNautical online examiner listings.  This will be up to you as an examiner at the time of the referral.

Geography will probably determine this for you because website referrals can be made from anywhere in the country.  For example, you live in Christchurch and refer a student living in Taupo via your Affiliate link.  It's unlikely you'll examine the student, however you still will receive the referral commission.

Can I have more than one eNautical Affiliate name / coded URL?

Yes, you can. Potentially you could have several - each active for different campaigns.  For example, you could have one eNautical Affilate URL used on a website, a different URL used as part of your email signature and a further URL that you give out over the phone.  The success of each eNautical Affiliate name could be tracked through referral commission payments made.  It is entirely up to you how many different eNautical Affiliate names / coded URL's you register - most affiliates will use just one.

How do I chose my eNautical Affiliate name?

  • eNautical Affiliate names are registered on a first come, first served basis
  • Names can contain only letters, numbers, periods (.), hyphens (-), or underscores (_)
  • They must have at least 1 character
  • eNautical Affiliate names are not case sensitive
  • eNautical Affiliate names cannot include spaces
